Port Washington High School partnered with Boelter to transform its Family and Consumer Science classroom into a modern, hands-on learning environment that mirrors real-world culinary spaces. The goal was to elevate the student experience while supporting multiple groups working simultaneously. A key challenge was balancing professional-grade performance with a functional layout that could accommodate six fully operational kitchen stations—without compromising usability in an educational setting.

Boelter delivered a solution that aligned with both performance and practicality. The layout maximized efficiency across all stations, and equipment selections focused on delivering a professional look while remaining practical for daily student use. Viking electric ranges were incorporated into each kitchen, paired with dedicated sinks and dishwashers to create fully functional, self-contained workstations. Although they are technically residential, they provide the appearance of commercial equipment, helping create a more immersive and elevated learning environment without the added complexity of full commercial infrastructure.

The result is a cohesive, high-performing classroom that enables students to work in small groups while developing real-world skills. The space balances form and function, reinforcing the program’s goal of preparing students for culinary settings.

Beyond the kitchen stations, Boelter partnered with the school to provide Speed Queen washers and dryers, along with other essential equipment that supports the full scope of the curriculum. Ongoing support from the Boelter team ensures the space continues to perform as intended. As Jeff Mallegni, the Family and Consumer Science teacher shared, “They have a quick response time to my questions and when we need to order additional accessories for equipment.”
